Scheduled to be released sometime this summer, today Apple previewed and made a beta available to developers of the newest operating system for the iPhone.
“The new iPhone OS 3.0 is a major software release packed with incredible new features and innovations for iPhone customers and developers alike. It will keep us years ahead of the competition,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing.
Some of the new features include MMS support and Copy and Paste, two features that in my opinion should have been in the iPhone OS since day one. The iPhone will also offer turn by turn navigation, and I would imagine at&t will want to charge a monthly fee for that service.
The new software will be available for free to iPhone users, however iPod touch users will have to pay 10 dollars for it.

SpinVox offers a few cool services that I have tested out for the past 2 weeks or so and I have to say they are all pretty cool, the first I tested was their voicemail service that converts your voicemail to text and then emails it to you or sends it to your phone via a text message.
If you Alltel (US), Cincinnati Bell (US), Sasktel (Canada), Rogers Wireless (Canada), Telus (Canada), Telstra (Australia), Vodacom South Africa, Vodafone Spain, Movistar Chile, and Skype (Global), you probably can already take advantage of the SpinVox service, which will convert your voicemail to text.
Having used a similar service in the past, I expected the service to work but miss certain words in the message especially form people with thick accents. However with the 20 odd voicemails I have received from different people with varying accents the service hasn’t missed a word to yet, it also displays numbers instead of spelling them out, which I think is cool and if you are having the messages sent to your phone via text message, spelling out the numbers can cause multiple text messages. For example the number 1329 if spelled out thirteen twenty nine might cause one text message to become multiple text, but just put 1329 will keep the size of the text message small.
The service is great especially if you want to check your voicemails at work but aren’t allowed to use your cell phone, if you have access to the internet, the voicemail can be sent to your email and you can read it, and find out if the call was important or not.
But SpinVox does offer a free service called VoxLinks, which will allow you to speak a text message. Meaning you call a number (980) 939-8785 or if you are in the UK 0161 369 5672 and follow the prompts. You then record a message and it’s sent to someone as a text. This is way faster than typing out the text and I’ve used it quite a bit since I discovered it.
Another cool free service is SpinVox Social Networks, it says it’s just a trial but I do not know when it expires. The service is a partnership between SpinVox and Ping.FM and it allows you to update your twitter status, facebook status and other social networks over the phone.
Something that goes hand in hand with the SpinVox Social Networks service is their SpinVox blog which lets you blog directly to your LiveJournal, Windiws Live Spacies, Moblog.co.uk, Typepad, Vox and Blogger over the phone. Pretty damned COOL if you ask me.
Then there is SpinVox Memo, which I signed my mom up for a trial is very forgetful, she pretty much is able to call a number and record a message. She then gets a txt message reminder. It’s been a life saver for her.
Then there is blast which pretty much works like SpinVox VoxLinks, but with the SpinVox Blast service you can send the message to multiple users quickly and easily with just one call.
All of their services are easy to use and fun, the only bothersome thing about the service is the voice of the automated system, she kind of sounds as if she is having a hard time breathing or if she was holding her breath during the recording. Sounds odd, I mean I love her British accent it just sounds odd.
If your wireless provider offers any of their services definitely they are worth signing up for, and if not try out the trials on their site http://www.spinvox.com

Cecilia over at our sister site CuteGeek.com posted her review on the Pantech Matrix Pro today, and while she liked the way the phone look, her overall impression wasn’t that great for the phone.
She pointed out that the UI for the phone wasn’t that appealing and that pretty much has to do with the fact it’s a Windows Mobile OS, but with Microsoft coming out with a better more stylish version of their mobile OS later this year, her impression might have been different.
Check out the review here.

The Palm Treo Pro finally has a home, it’s shackling up with Sprint and will be available starting March 15th.
The Palm Treo Pro is a Windows Mobile Pocket PC Phone, it has a full QWERTY keyboard and Touh Screen, and what is so interesting about the touch screen it doesn’t look like a touch screen, and you may not realize it is one until you actually touch it.
The Treo Pro comes with Built in GPS, Built in Wi-Fi that can be enabled with 1 touch, and the center button glows when you have a voice mail. (Can be disabled) The Palm Treo Pro on Sprint will also come loaded with Sprint TV, Sprint Music and Pocket Express.
I have been using a Palm Treo Pro for nearly 4 months now and it is one of the easiest phones to text on. But the QWERTY keyboard kind of fools you, at first it looks too small for your fingers but it isn’t and is actually comfortable to text with.
Again the phone will be available from Sprint on the 15th of March and will sell for $199.99 with a two year contract.

Pantech has done it again, if you recall two years ago in November they gave us what I considered one of the best phones in 2008 the Pantech Duo. Now they give us the Matrix Pro a phone similar to the Pantech Duo but with a faster processor, newer sleekr elegant design and and Windows Mobile 6.1.
Like the Duo the Matrix Pro is a dual slider phone, but unlike the Duo the Matrix Pro works on at&t’s 3G network for faster mobile internet speeds, and with the bluetooth pal function you can easily share your mobile internet with your laptop. (Just don’t tell at&t you’re doing that)
The Matrix Pro has a beautiful 2.4” color display, full qwerty keyboard which is great for texting and IM’ing on, it also has a 2 megapixel camera that does both stills and video, GPS and supports up to a 32 GB SD card.
We will have an unboxing of the phone later today, and you can expect a review in the next week or so.
Don’t have a final word on pricing but as soon as I do I will update this post. The phone will be available from at&t starting today!

Not only will Widows Mobile 6.5 have a full fledge browser like the iPhone and Samsung instict but it will also have improved finger navigation, they will also make it easier for Windows Smartphone users to backup their information to the web for free so that when they change phones they can sync that data back to their phone. There will also be a marketplace similar to the Google App and Apple App store.
Check out the video demo below.
“Windows® phones bring together the best of the Web, the PC and the phone so you can connect instantly to the experiences you care about, no matter where you are,” Ballmer said. “We’re working with partners across the industry to deliver a new generation of Windows® phones that break down the barriers between people, information and applications and provide great end-to-end experiences that span your entire life, at work and at home.”
You can expect to see WIndows Mobile 6.5 phones in the second half of this year (2009), with comitments from LG and HTC to have upgrades for some of their current phones.
