There once was a time where the only push to talk phone available from Sprint Nextel was bulky and ugly, and boy have times changed with the new Motorola Stature i9. A elegant Push to Talk phone good enough for the construction workers working hard at construction sites to CEO’s in their big comfy office.
When I first unboxed the Stature i9, I was pretty impressed by the look and feel of the phone, it feels heavy duty but it had a nice soft feel to the key pad.
After I was done playing with the phone I put it to the test, I made a few phone calls, used the walkie talkie feature and just ran it through its paces.
First the sound quality is amazing, who ever I spoke to came in loud and clear and they heard me clearly as well, but that has always been a trait of Motorola phones good sound quality so I wasn’t surprised by that.
I was more surprised by the Sound quality of the Walkie Talkie Feature. On other Push To Talk phones I sometimes have a hard time understanding the person I am talking to and I have even noticed other people using PTT and asking the person they are speaking to, too repeat themselves. That’s common and a lot of people who use PTT are use to it.
But say good bye to that problem with the Stature i9 because it isn’t a problem. The PTT calls come in as clear as day and you have no issues understanding anyone.
Overall the phones are great and if you are in the need of a push to talk phone or want to upgrade your current push to talk phone then the Stature is a great phone to consider.
The Stature is available from sprint now and with a 2 year contract you can get it for $199 after a $50 Mail in Rebate.

On April 15th Sound ID announced that its new 300 Bluetooth headset would be available exclusively at at&t stores.
The 300 is a beautiful Bluetooth headset with a glossy black color or as some call it a piano black finish, that not only looks good but feels good in your ear, because it’s so light weight and it doesn’t even feel like it’s in your ear.
I actually forgot the headset was in my ear because of how comfortable and light weight it is, it literally doesn’t feel as if it is in your ear after a while.
What also amazed me about the Sound ID 300 is the sound quality, it’s as crystal clear as it can get, and people who I talked to could hear me clearly as well, I did not have to speak louder than normal for them to hear me. I credit the dual microphones in the headset for that.
The Sound ID 300 also has 3 listening modes, which are easy to switch between and depending on the environment you are in will give you a better call experience, it will even adjust the volume automatically depending on your environment as well.
What’s also cool about the 300 is you don’t need to tap talk on your phone, you just hit the button on the back of the headset and it will answer or put on hold the person you are talking too. That’s the kind of ease of use I enjoy.
The battery life is also long, I have gone several days with day to day use with out having to charge the battery yet, it advertises 220 hours of battery life so that may be about right.
The Sound ID 300 is great and it’s available now at at&t retail stores for just $99.99, it should also be available at http://wireless.att.com but at last check it was not.

If you are a fashionista and a Sprint customer then the LG Lotus is for you, it’s probably the most stylish new phone I have seen in a while. With a swirly imprinted design and available in red textured purple and satin black the ladies are sure to love it.
“Fans of the fashion runways will appreciate the couture style of LG Lotus, exclusive to Sprint. LG Lotus is the recipient of the prestigious Red Dot Design Award for its unique, chic and sleek form factor. It is one of the first Sprint devices to offer One Click, a highly-customizable user interface that makes texting, Web access, email, Sprint Navigation, Sprint TV, Sprint Music StoreSM and other features easier to access. It offers the perfect combination of both style and substance with a full QWERTY keyboard that is ideal for quick text messaging, email or instant messaging. LG Lotus also boasts advanced features including stereo Bluetooth® , a 2.0 MP camera/camcorder and Wireless Backup for safekeeping your contact list in the event that the device is lost, stolen or damaged.” Said Sprint.
The phone will be available directly from Sprint starting the 19th of April 2009 and will run you $99 with a 2 year contract. The Purple and Black already are available with Sprint.

Scheduled to be released sometime this summer, today Apple previewed and made a beta available to developers of the newest operating system for the iPhone.
“The new iPhone OS 3.0 is a major software release packed with incredible new features and innovations for iPhone customers and developers alike. It will keep us years ahead of the competition,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing.
Some of the new features include MMS support and Copy and Paste, two features that in my opinion should have been in the iPhone OS since day one. The iPhone will also offer turn by turn navigation, and I would imagine at&t will want to charge a monthly fee for that service.
The new software will be available for free to iPhone users, however iPod touch users will have to pay 10 dollars for it.

SpinVox offers a few cool services that I have tested out for the past 2 weeks or so and I have to say they are all pretty cool, the first I tested was their voicemail service that converts your voicemail to text and then emails it to you or sends it to your phone via a text message.
If you Alltel (US), Cincinnati Bell (US), Sasktel (Canada), Rogers Wireless (Canada), Telus (Canada), Telstra (Australia), Vodacom South Africa, Vodafone Spain, Movistar Chile, and Skype (Global), you probably can already take advantage of the SpinVox service, which will convert your voicemail to text.
Having used a similar service in the past, I expected the service to work but miss certain words in the message especially form people with thick accents. However with the 20 odd voicemails I have received from different people with varying accents the service hasn’t missed a word to yet, it also displays numbers instead of spelling them out, which I think is cool and if you are having the messages sent to your phone via text message, spelling out the numbers can cause multiple text messages. For example the number 1329 if spelled out thirteen twenty nine might cause one text message to become multiple text, but just put 1329 will keep the size of the text message small.
The service is great especially if you want to check your voicemails at work but aren’t allowed to use your cell phone, if you have access to the internet, the voicemail can be sent to your email and you can read it, and find out if the call was important or not.
But SpinVox does offer a free service called VoxLinks, which will allow you to speak a text message. Meaning you call a number (980) 939-8785 or if you are in the UK 0161 369 5672 and follow the prompts. You then record a message and it’s sent to someone as a text. This is way faster than typing out the text and I’ve used it quite a bit since I discovered it.
Another cool free service is SpinVox Social Networks, it says it’s just a trial but I do not know when it expires. The service is a partnership between SpinVox and Ping.FM and it allows you to update your twitter status, facebook status and other social networks over the phone.
Something that goes hand in hand with the SpinVox Social Networks service is their SpinVox blog which lets you blog directly to your LiveJournal, Windiws Live Spacies, Moblog.co.uk, Typepad, Vox and Blogger over the phone. Pretty damned COOL if you ask me.
Then there is SpinVox Memo, which I signed my mom up for a trial is very forgetful, she pretty much is able to call a number and record a message. She then gets a txt message reminder. It’s been a life saver for her.
Then there is blast which pretty much works like SpinVox VoxLinks, but with the SpinVox Blast service you can send the message to multiple users quickly and easily with just one call.
All of their services are easy to use and fun, the only bothersome thing about the service is the voice of the automated system, she kind of sounds as if she is having a hard time breathing or if she was holding her breath during the recording. Sounds odd, I mean I love her British accent it just sounds odd.
If your wireless provider offers any of their services definitely they are worth signing up for, and if not try out the trials on their site http://www.spinvox.com

When Samsung announced the newest Instinct the S30, I was worried they would try to improve on it so much they would ruin it, kind of like what Microsoft did with Vista, or how the sequel to the original movie sucks.
But I think Samsung struck the right balance between improvements and what should be left alone when they came out with the S30 because it’s an amazing phone.
It’s slightly lighter than the original with a bigger screen that offers in my opinion a better image quality than the previous.
The touch feature is also more sensitive than the original at least I think it is, as the phone seemed more responsive to touch that the original, it’s also a lot faster than the original.
It also looks better than the original too, makes me wonder if they are going to change up the Times Square billboard to show the newest one.
The phone is also great to watch TV on with SprintTV, I think I spent at least an hour each day just checking out the TV channels while I had the phone for review.
Something lacking still in the newest instinct is an Instant Messaging program, and a lot of people will not get this phone because of that. Samsung has opened up the API for the S30 so hopefully someone will create one, but I think Samsung should have worked with AIM, Yahoo and Microsoft to develop their own.
Overall the phone is great and if you loved your original Instinct and are about to upgrade you won’t regret getting the S30.
It’s available now from sprint for $99.88 with a 2 year contract and a $100 mail in rebate.
