Scheduled to be released sometime this summer, today Apple previewed and made a beta available to developers of the newest operating system for the iPhone.
“The new iPhone OS 3.0 is a major software release packed with incredible new features and innovations for iPhone customers and developers alike. It will keep us years ahead of the competition,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing.
Some of the new features include MMS support and Copy and Paste, two features that in my opinion should have been in the iPhone OS since day one. The iPhone will also offer turn by turn navigation, and I would imagine at&t will want to charge a monthly fee for that service.
The new software will be available for free to iPhone users, however iPod touch users will have to pay 10 dollars for it.

The iPhone ultracompact USB adapter is being recalled by Apple.
Apparently the metal prongs are breaking off and could possibly cause an electric shock, so far no one has been injured which is a good thing.

So is Apple and at&t doing enough to make it clear that 3G isn’t available to everyone? Mike doesn’t think so and he mentions how both companies are not advertising that the 3G network isn’t as large as one would thing.
3G only covers 300 Metro areas around the US and sure that may sound like a lot, it really isn’t when you take a closer look at their coverage map.

Apple has released updated firmare for the ever so popular iPhone. Apple has said little about what is included in version 1.1.4 and appears just to fix some bugs.
As of yet there is no word on whether or not the new iPhone Firmware breaks jailbroken phones but only time will tell. Best not to upgrade until someone finds out for sure.
As we mentioned yesterday, the iPhone SDK has been delayed, today Apple mentioned nothing about it.
