When I first had a chance to play with the Original Samsung Instinct, my first thoughts were iPhone killer, and best phone ever.
When Samsung announced the newest Instinct the S30, I was worried they would try to improve on it so much they would ruin it, kind of like what Microsoft did with Vista, or how the sequel to the original movie sucks.
But I think Samsung struck the right balance between improvements and what should be left alone when they came out with the S30 because it’s an amazing phone.
It’s slightly lighter than the original with a bigger screen that offers in my opinion a better image quality than the previous.
The touch feature is also more sensitive than the original at least I think it is, as the phone seemed more responsive to touch that the original, it’s also a lot faster than the original.
It also looks better than the original too, makes me wonder if they are going to change up the Times Square billboard to show the newest one.
The phone is also great to watch TV on with SprintTV, I think I spent at least an hour each day just checking out the TV channels while I had the phone for review.
Something lacking still in the newest instinct is an Instant Messaging program, and a lot of people will not get this phone because of that. Samsung has opened up the API for the S30 so hopefully someone will create one, but I think Samsung should have worked with AIM, Yahoo and Microsoft to develop their own.
Overall the phone is great and if you loved your original Instinct and are about to upgrade you won’t regret getting the S30.
It’s available now from sprint for $99.88 with a 2 year contract and a $100 mail in rebate.

Today Samsung announced the Pink Instinct available exclusively from Sprint for just $99.99 with a two year contract.
The Instinct is probably one of the most popular phones from Sprint, and it became the fastest selling EVDO handset in Sprints history and in the first two weeks of availability the instinct accounted for one-fith of all handsets sold.
“Instinct has been a great success for us from both a sales and innovation perspective,” said Kevin Packingham, Sprint SVP of Product Development. “We are thrilled with our customer’s response to this dynamic, well-integrated and easy-to-use wireless phone. Bringing the price under $100 will make it even more accessible to customers who want the best of Sprint’s 3G network on a powerful touchscreen device.”
The new pink color is available now in all Sprint retail channels including 1-800-SPRINT1, http://www.sprint.com and several retail partners including Best Buy.

Today at&t wireless and Samsung announced the availability of the Samsung Epix Windows Mobile Smartphone for at&t, a phone with a similar design and features as the popular Samsung Black Jack (I and II) but with one major difference the Samsung Epix has a touch screen.
Being that the Samsung Epix is a Touch Screen Smartphone running Windows Mobile 6.1 you won’t get the sexy UI Windows Mobile 6.1 for none touch screens has, but you will get fully functional Office Mobile programs. While the Epix has a Touch Screen I would suggest using a Stylus (It probably comes iwth one) to navigate the menus etc.
Another big difference between the Epix and the BlackJack (I and II) is the optical mouse technology built into the phone under the screen, so basically with the swipe of a finger you can navigate the phone easily, which kind of makes up for not really being able to use your fingers on the touch screen. I mean you can but Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro makes it hard.
I have requested one for review from Samsung so hopefully I can get you guys a review in the coming weeks.
The Samsung Epix for at&t is available now and with a 2 year contract you can get it for $199.99. For more info visit: http://www.att.com/samsungepix

• Wi-Fi® (802.11 b/g) — to connect with home or campus networks or access more than 17,000 AT&T hot spots nationwide, including at thousands of participating Starbucks locations.
• Built-in a — for use with AT&T Navigator, AT&T Navigator Global Edition and other GPS-based applications for personal and business use.
• AT&T Video ShareSM — the first-ever service in the U.S. that allows users to share live video over wireless devices while participating in a voice call, so they can share family moments, monitor progress on a job site or review the day’s work without having to leave the office.
• Global Capabilities — when abroad, AT&T customers can use the Epix to make or receive a phone call in more than 200 countries and check e-mail, browse the Web or perform other data functions in more than 150 countries, including in more than 60 — such as Japan and South Korea — that have deployed 3G networks.
• 2.0 Megapixel Camera — with video-capture capabilities.
• Slim, Light Form Factor – Equipped with a full QWERTY keyboard, the Samsung Epix measures 4.6 inches x 2.4 inches x 0.5 inches, weighs just 4.4 ounces and includes a large 2.5-inch TFT color display.

If you contact at&t and inform them you wish to unlock your Samsung Black Jack too, they will happily provide you with the unlock code provided you have been with them for mover 3 months, or if you paid full price for the phone.
However the instructions at&t gives you are incorrect.
at&t will provide you with the following instructions:
1 Power off device and remove the AT&T SIM card.
2 Power on the handset.
3 Enter: # 7 4 6 5 6 2 5 * 6 3 8 *
4 At the Network Lock Screen, enter the Unlock Code and press the left soft key (LSK) Ok.
That above is incorrect, the correct way is:
1 Power off device and remove the AT&T SIM card.
2 Insert non AT&T Sim Card and Power on Device
3 Enter: Unlock code at Network Lock Screen
4 Click the left soft ky (LSK) Ok
From conversations with Samsung I have been told that at&t was informed to changed the instructions when the BlackJack II first came out but at&t has yet to do so. Maybe because they want to lock you into their network forever.
