Mobile Price Wars have Begun
Wednesday, February 20, 2008

Yesterday, Verizon launched a new unlimited calling plan with a starting price of $99 USD. Hours later, AT&T followed suit, and t-mobile joined along an hour after that, thus creating a price war.

However, what confuses me is that some analysts are saying that these plans could lead to a price war! Are they kidding me? What the hell are they talking about? There is no “could lead to a price war”! This is a ‘price war’, and the war started when Verizon invaded the island of Unlimited.

Then, AT&T announced it planned to send its troops onto the island of Unlimited on the 22nd ,and t-mobile said hey, you better watch out we are going to try to claim some of the island too; we are going in on the 21st, we will beat AT&T to the island of Unlimited.

This is a price war; there are no ifs, ands, or buts about it. Now analysts who are saying this could lead to one are probably being cautious because they know this ‘price war’ will drive stock prices down and scare investors. While that may be true, investors need to realize a lot of people will sign up for these unlimited plans. Many will ditch their land lines for one of these plans, and a great amount of people with these plans probably won’t even use 500 minutes a month.

I predict that AT&T and Verizon will both see a decline in landline subscribers. In fact, I see every form of phone company, be it traditional landline or VoIP, seeing a decline in subscribers in favor of these unlimited plans. I believe these unlimited plans will begin a new era in communication, one where the majority of the American population uses only a cell phone. It’s already started, but with these new Unlimited plans, it’s only going to speed the process up.

Now we just have to wait for Alltel and Sprint to jump onboard. I give them a week, and who knows one of them may surprise us with an even cheaper rate. (I hear about 60 - 80 bucks) Remember Sprint used to offer a 60 dollar unlimited plan they may bring it back.

Review : Supertooth Light Bluetooth Handsfree Speakerphone
Wednesday, July 25, 2007

I had the chance to try out this product and it is amazing.

At first I was a little skeptical because it seemed to be rather big, and it goes on the visor in your car. imageI thought to my self how are people going to hear me unless I scream or talk really loud? It’s not like a regular headset that goes on your ear and near your mouth and since I am not technical I wasn’t sure how it would work exactly. But my skeptisim went out the window when I actually used it. Like I said it’s amazing, everything sounds very clear, the person on the other end could hear everything I was saying and no I did not need to scream!

My only problem was when u have the radio on, I would have to lower it for them to hear me clearly but thats a given, or if a car is passed by they can hear that as well. I guess they can hear pretty much everything including my surroundings which isn’t that great and some people didn’t feel comfortable with and I had to pick up my phone and talk which kind of defeated the purpose of hands free.

I use it almost everyday, and it is very easy and safe to use, I can talk and drive without any problems or of having to hold the phone with my shoulders or hand except when it is too loud around me, and I don’t have the problem with it falling out of my ear like I do with my Bluetooth headset. (I have big ears sue me). The buttons on the Supertooth are right there in front of me also, so when I need to answer the phone or hang up, I don’t need to take my eyes off the road.

The unit has a little button on the side which you press to release the microphone, and this is also the way to turn it on. So unless this microphone is out your bluetooth will not be activated by accident.

I really enjoy using the Supertooth Light Bluethooh Handsfree Speakerphone and recommend it to moms with kids in the car, to anyone who is always busy and on the run, that person who lives more in their car than out of it. I just wish the name was shorter.

Sprints Funky Billing
Thursday, May 17, 2007

imageLAINDIA and I have been dealing with sprint issues for the past two months. Well more LAINDIA than I because it is her account.

For some reason Sprint is charging her Anytime Minutes for Night and Weekend calls, it has gotten so bad that her bill this month was $386 dollars, her account is limited to 150 a month so she was forced to pay over 100 dollars to activate her account again throughout the month. But last night she received her bill and to her amazement she was being charged overages for calls made after 9 and on the weekends.

Here is an example of calls made on April 28th and April 29th, a Saturday and Sunday:

It’s ridiculous, Sprint is aware of the problem but has done absolutely nothing to remedy it. They have however told LAINDIA not to use her phone, but also said they wouldn’t credit her for the time she shouldn’t use her phone.

Update: We have contacted Sprint and the billing issue has been resolved. According to Sprint they did not properly add Unlimited Nights and weekends to her account even though her account showed as having the Unlimited Nights and Weekend Feature. But personally I don’t understand how a feature can be on an account but not on the account.
