I have just recieved an email from one of our readers, which states that amp’d mobile has sent text messages to users last week, stating that their service may terminate effective July 24th at 12:01 am. So in just over 10 hours, amp’d mobile users may not have any service.
If you like your amp’d mobile service I suggest Verizon as amp’d used the Verizon network.
Check this forum post for some Verizon Deals.

Well according to a BusinessWeek article amp’d mobile who was targeting young professionals by advertising like there was no tomorrow on MTV, had a fast growing user base.
However nearly half of their user base neglected to pay their bills. 80,000 of 175,000 subscribers stopped paying their bills.
amp’d mobile also owes 100 million to creditors such as Verizon whose network amp’d mobile uses, Verizon is owed the most money 33 million.
I guess when you advertise during work hours on MTV the market you are reaching isn’t the market you really want. Young Professionals have jobs and if someone is watching TV at noon chances are they don’t have a job.

Amp’d mobile a fairly new service provider has announced that it has filed for Chapter 11 and hopes to revamp the company and find a new source of financing.
According to a statement Amp’d said that its customers will not see any service disruptions.
With major providers offering services such as VCast and MyFaves it is going to be difficult for smaller providers like Amp’d to compete.
Amp’d target audience is young professionals, who love music and video entertainment and want a high-speed mobile broadband connection.

Today I recieved a press release in my inbox, and like always I read them and decided whether they warrant a post or not. Today I received one from a company called Yoober, and in the press release they promise free texting etc.
So I read the press release and visit their website to see what the catch is, and while there really is no catch you do need a data plan to use their supposed free text technology.
Basically you download their software and send messages to friends who are also using their software. They send the messages over the Internet. But you do not incur any texting charges. WOW Free texting!!! Yeah right.
The Yoober software uses your data plan to send the messages and data plans tend to cost just as much if not more than text plans.
The CEO of Yoober claims to be a texting addict who wants to make the Telco’s suffer by offering a free Texting alternative, but I think his software would just bring in more money to telco’s because it uses the more expensive data plans they offer.
Yoober does not offer free Texting, it just piggy backs on a more expensive service.
