The New York-based Committee To Protect Journalists urged Indonesian authorities to ensure Arnada is quickly released.

“The jailing of Erwin Arnada in a high-security prison was politically motivated and should never have happened,” the group said in a statement. “Now that he has been acquitted, we want to see his immediate release.”

Arnada was previously acquitted by a district court in 2007, but the Supreme Court convicted him last year on an appeal from prosecutors. It ruled that Arnada had violated indecency provisions in the criminal code.

His lawyers then filed a judicial review as Arnada began his sentence. They argued that judges were wrong to use the criminal code instead of Indonesia’s press law.

“A verdict on our judicial review was handed down May 25, ruling that the indictment by the prosecutors could not be accepted,” Yang said.

I went to my local sprint store the other day, and I guess I haven’t bought a cell phone in a while....
So I get there, and the place doesn’t look terribly busy, so i started looking around. Then I asked if someone could help me with a phone, and they replied that I needed to get on the wait list.?!?!
okay, so i get on this list, and I’m #9… I don’t get why they need to have 1 on 1 for each person when they’re looking for a phone. It should act like a regular store where you get what you want and ask questions and buy your phone....
Well, I then asked how long it would take, and they said they had no idea. Again, how could they have no idea? I asked if it was like 15 minutes or 4 hours, and all she could reply was that it wasn’t gonna be 4 hours.
Now I hadn’t bought a cell phone in a while, but this seemed like really crappy service… Needless to say, I left and am debating just either buying one online, or maybe even switching to a new carrier…

So thats my rant… the stores need some work, that’s for sure.

I had a Treo phone and wanted to transition to another phone similiar to the iphone. I received the HTC phone and activated it on 11/27. Being the holiday season, it wasn’t until today, 1/7, that I was able to get the settings to sync with my work email. I have just gotten off the phone after 3 hrs with Sprint regarding syncing with my work mail using a port setting other than the default. To my dismay, I found that this phone can’t be configured to use server ports other than the default. Because I purchased the phone over the holiday, I am 1 week over the 30-day limit.

I have been a loyal Sprint customer for the last 7 years and you would think that they would have some process to address my situation. But all they can tell me is that if I want to return to a Treo that I would have to pay another $500.

What a scam!!!

They are more insterested in getting the money today than in keeping a loyal customer who in the end will get them the money today and tomorrow.

I would say to anyone who is with Sprint that you need to switch. If you are looking for not exceptional but decent service, this is not the company for you.

I am disgusted as to how I’ve been treated and the disregard of their employees in working with me to settle this situation.

To Sprint, you should be ashame. How can you continue when you treat loyal customers as you do—I guess “2008: the year of SprntSpeed” is how fast you can ripe off your customers!
