Found a very decent little firm that supplies something called the GlobalSim.  It allows far cheaper roaming calls than your services provider and so far for me has worked flawlessly.

Go to http://www.gosim.com and have a look.  You can buy specific sims for specific continents also which are a bit cheaper than the global version.

I found them after T-Mobile wanted to charge me a $500 deposit to enable roaming on my new contract (a**holes… perfect credit rating and about 8 contracts previously).  Anyway, worked perfectly in the Caribbean and US so far.

So are they cheaper than buying a prepaid sim for 10 euros?

I always have been told to just buy a prepaid card and be on my way.

About the same really, except you only need the one sim.  Think the only place that it can’t compete with a local pre-pay is Canada for some reason.  It’s about 30p a minute there.

30p = 30 pounds just to be clear
1p = 1.47 euros
1 euros = 1.33 dollars

I may look into them then because I may be doing a euro trip.
