I knew you would hate it
SMS - yes, that would be great, but (a) you can send/receive emailed pictures, and (b) it’ll probably be changed with a software update.
Video - In the last two years, I’ve taken maybe 3 videos, and then did nothing with them.
Service - yeah, service seems to be poorer than Tmobile, but frankly they all suck.
Edge - but you knew this before you bought it. I found edge perfectly usable to get email and the like. remember, Blackberrys use edge too.
Beep reminders - my last phone didn’t have this either. Many phones don’t. I wish it did, and it probably will be added later, but it’s no worse than many other phones.
No phone is right for everyone, so there is no “best” phone. You have to find the phone right for you. For me, the iPhone has the right GUI, features, and size/weight. It’s my best, even if it may not be yours.
SMS- Even when this is fixed, like I said, Cingular has never been a reliable company to send and recieve text messages, so even with te capabilty, I feel it will sell short.
Video- Like I said. I have a 4 month old and send hourly videos of him to his daddy. He misses 90% of his life due to work. I have taken over 300 videos myself. ** As a matter of fact, I recorded us going into the Apple store with all the employees clapping and cheering and sent it to everyone.
Service- No they do not all suck. I have worked for most major carriers in my hhighschool days and I can tell you right now, you are wrong. Flat out wrong. Verizon dominates by far! Not because I am an ex-memeber. Because I have also had the other major carriers. Sprint is pretty reliable too. I am not sure if you have used Verizon extensively, but you would find it to be the most reliable service available. We had close to no returns concerning service when I was employed through the company.
Edge- Yes I knew this, but didn’t realize the magnitude. With the internet page display (that differs from Blackberrys) as full view, it takes a considerable amount of difference. My friend and I stood side by side and hers loaded quite faster than mine. She has a blackberry. So yes I did know this, but not quite to the full effect.
Beep reminders- Most phones do come equipped with it. It is useful and and obvious plus. With all the technology put into this phone, I feel these issues should have been addressed. With how “technology forward” this is, it seems to be"backward" in some aspects
Hey Rosemary can I get your iPhone and put Prepaid on it since you basically have to pay Cingular to tke the phone back.
I KNEW IT WASN’T GONNA BE ANY GOOD
Although it is my phone, my dad bought it for me. It is only respectful to give the money back to him. He is in control of what happens to the phone. I am just giving it back to him so he can use it for his employees
I meant buy it off ya sorry wasn’t clear.
Where is Macguy to have a go at me for slating this thing?
Mac guy was to busy finishing me off on HWG. I don’t want people to think that I have discovered information that wasn’t available. Yes if I would have looked for these things from the beginning, then I would have been more educated and may not have had my dad invest in it.
It is much like a relationship. You are sp wrapped up and consumed in the “new” that your too niave to see the faults. I am the only one at fault here people.
Now I will Chime in, you said you were consumed in the “new” that you ignored the bad.
What I have experienced is, most Mac Users feel like this with a lot of their products, but are too ashamed to say so because of the dollar amount they have spent on their product so they exagerate the good and denie the bad.
I just noticed the picture via SMS problem today when someone tried to send me picures.
It is sad that it does not work yet but I hope that that will be fixed soon. in the meantime i will ask people to Email me pics instead.
I also switched from verizon and was sad that i had to leave them because of their great coverage, but i have had no problems with service or dead spots so far here in Nashville, and definitely no problems with my hands affecting the bar strength.
May be a defective phone-try taking it to the apple store to get it checked.
I use the edge network for internet and email. while it is slower than wifi, i have found it satisfactory for checking movie times, locating stores and finding them on the map, etc.
some cities have experienced faster edge networks than others. hopefully they will all be upgraded soon…
people with whom I talk often on my phone have actually said that the call seems clearer now than when i was on my razor on verizon.
i switched to mac two years ago and have not been disappointed by any of the products I have bought.
I know that there are still a couple bugs to work out but overall i think that this is the best phone i have ever used. better than any flip-phone like my razor and easier to use than a treo or blackberry.

Picture messaging via SMS : It simply isn’t available. Not only do you not recieve the picture, you do not recieve the text with it. There is no option to send pictures via SMS either. When you have a baby and your fiance is gone 12 hours out of his 16 hours awake during the day, pictures are necessary. I have no way of sending him pictures of the new things he does, so he has missed a lot already
Note: Even though this is probably a software thing. Even the Cingular/Att phones capable of sending/ recieving picture texts have troubles sending/recieving them to/from Verizon customers.
Video: No video option what so ever.
SERVICE: They can say “fewest dropped calls” and “most reliable network” but I feel this phone would work just as well shoved up my ass. I had dead spots in the house. IE: The left side of our livingroom couch. The kitchen. Near the pool. And my bedroom. IT IS BY FAR THE WORST RECEPTION I HAVE EVER HAD. Not to mention, my dad noticed that if you hold the phone by the bottom (the appropriate way of holding it) it decreases your bar strength. Sometimes taking full reception, to no reception.
Edge Network: Sucks. I don’t even try to pretend to use it. I use the internet only where there is wi-fi. Pretty much, wherever there is wi-fi, there is a computer. I would rather hop on a computer than navigate through the iPhone. As would anyone else.
Reminder Beeps: You know that annoying beep you get when you have missed a call? Or a text message? Well this phone doesn’t have one of those. It isn’t so annoying when you don’t have one. Say you stepped in the shower and your phone rang ..... when you get out, your getting ready ..... putting your clothes on ..... fixing your hair ..... whatever else you do ...... heading out the door ..... go to look at the time maybe on your iPhone ..... OH WAIT SOMEBODY CALLED?! Yes folks, there is no reminder beeps to alert you when you have missed a call. Same with text messsages. You have to constantly look at your phone when you are away from it
So with a combination of all these things, I think I am heading home. Back into the loving arms of Verizon. After cancelling my contract, I think it’s time to sign a new one. With my old phone and old (RELIABLE) service, I will be whole again.
